(Understanding ) Mangrove Carbon

How can we appreciate, study and conserve remote ecosystems? Science Gallery Bengaluru invited the Technology for Wildlife Foundation and three artists to interpret blue carbon — the role of mangroves as carbon sinks — for its CARBON exhibition. Each piece had to incorporate elements of the original estuary map made by the Technology for Wildlife Foundation. I created three digital artworks, printed for display as part of a mixed-media group installation. The estuary maps were research drone captures made by the Technology for Wildlife Foundation. Layering this scientific data with my digital illustrations made each piece a true collaboration between research and art, with more to discover than first meets the eye.
